1.0 Policy Statement
| 1.1 | If an employee is on leave for a consecutive 30 calendar days, access to their network and e-mail accounts is to be suspended, and all IT assets are to be returned to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. |
2.0 Application
| 2.1 | This policy applies to all employees of Government departments regardless of status (permanent, temporary, seasonal, contractual, or student), with the exception of Executive members, or others granted access to meet business needs, upon the approval of the Deputy Minister or designate. |
3.0 Definitions
| IT Assets | Components of an organization such as computers, mobile devices, software, hardware, applications, electronic storage devices, servers, printers and shared drives that have value to the organization. |

5.0 Suspension of Access
| 5.1 | If an employee is on leave for a consecutive 30 calendar days, their supervisor/manager is to notify the Office of the Chief Information Officer to have the employee’s network and e-mail accounts suspended. |
| 5.2 | When an employee advises that they are returning to work, the supervisor/manager is to notify the Office of the Chief Information Officer to have the employee’s network and e-mail accounts reinstated. |
| 5.3 | Unless otherwise indicated, all Government IT assets are to be returned to the supervisor/manager while the employee is on leave beyond the consecutive 30 days. |
| 5.4 | Deputy Ministers or designates may remove an employee’s access earlier than 30 calendar days or extend access beyond this timeframe, if deemed appropriate. |
