Staff are available to help individuals assess their employment needs, access services and supports and to develop Employment Plans to achieve employment goals.

The first step to receiving any financial assistance is the development of an Employment Plan. You must allow enough time to work through this process – depending on your needs and the time of year, it is recommended that you approach the department at least four weeks prior to wanting to undertake a program.

Your Employment Plan will assist you in finding employment, or becoming more employable by:

  • Taking into consideration your needs, skills, knowledge, abilities, and present circumstances;
  • Identifying specific activities and timeframes to assist you towards independence;
  • Assisting to identify any barriers you may have to immediate employment;
  • Referring you to appropriate programs and services; and
  • Setting mandatory reviews to ensure you achieve the conditions and activities outlined in your Employment Plan.

Anyone who does not agree to enter into an Employment Plan, or who does not comply with its conditions, is not eligible for financial assistance.
