Licensed Well Drillers are responsible for constructing drilled wells for domestic (private wells), non-domestic water supplies and other boreholes including geothermal applications. A general breakdown of well or borehole types are listed below.
- Domestic drilled wells (private wells)
- Non-domestic drilled wells including:
- Public water supply wells for Municipalities and Local Service Districts:
- Potable water supply wells for clinics, schools, churches, government buildings, etc.:
- Closed loop geothermal installation;
- Dewatering wells;
- Saltwater production wells;
- Sentry wells;
- Observation wells;
- Monitoring wells; and
- Other types as determined by the Minister.
The following table shows all known drilled wells and boreholes constructed from 2009-2018. The data is derived from submitted Well Construction Records from Licensed Well Drillers. The headers represent basic groupings that are described as:
Domestic all water wells constructed for single family dwellings (private wells)
Municipal all water wells constructed for Towns and Local Service Districts
Non-Domestic includes all other non-domestic wells (clinics, schools, commercial buildings, churches, parks, geothermal etc.) not listed under Municipal Wells
