Message from the Provincial Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources

Honourable Steve Crocker

As Newfoundland and Labrador’s Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, I extend a warm welcome to everyone attending the 2017 Federal/Provincial/Territorial Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Agriculture Conference.

Our province’s agriculture industry is a pillar of our economy, particularly for rural communities. Our government recognizes the importance of providing as much locally-produced food as possible to our residents.

The relationship that has been built around agriculture policy is a model for Federal/Provincial/Territorial dialogue and we should all be very proud of what we have achieved through our long history of Agriculture Policy Framework Agreements.

Our efforts here in Newfoundland and Labrador will form the next national framework that will help Canada’s agriculture sector continue to grow.

I look forward to our discussions over the next few days. Enjoy your time in our beautiful province.

Honourable Steve Crocker
Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources

2017- Minister’s Message

Lawrence MacAulay

Warm greetings to all my provincial and territorial colleagues as we look forward to our annual conference in July. A special thanks to my co-chair, Minister Crocker, and his team for hosting us in beautiful St. John’s.

I am looking forward to meeting with you in Newfoundland and Labrador to continue our work towards developing the next agricultural policy framework for Canada. Our work together will help us achieve our common goal of growing this dynamic sector and increasing its ability to compete, innovate and grow sustainably.

As Canadians celebrate Canada’s 150 years, there are many tremendous agricultural opportunities on the horizon.

Thanks for all of your great work, and I look forward to a productive meeting in St. John’s.

Lawrence MacAulay,
Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food
