- Special Collection / Transport / Processing Requirements
24 hour urine collection – 24 hour collection bottle with 25 ml of 6N HCL. Upon lab reception the pH shall be in between 1-5. If the specimen was refrigerated during the collection and is not older than 12 hours after the end of the collection, the pH can be adjusted to 1-5 with 6N HCl. Otherwise, reject the specimen. Aliquot 3 samples with roughly 10 ml in each and freeze at -20ºC as soon as possible. Enter in the LIS the Start and End Date & Time of the urine collection, the final pH and the total urine volume collected.
