The Provincial Laboratory Formulary Advisory Council (PLFAC) consists of HCS representatives plus members representing stakeholder groups:
- Physician Co-Chair
- Provincial Director of Clinical Laboratory Services (Co-Chair).
- NLMA representatives especially physicians with test utilization expertise and interests (Four members)
- ARNNL representative
- Laboratory Medicine specialty representatives (Five members including a Clinical Biochemist, a Molecular Geneticist or Cytogeneticist, a Hematopathologist, a Clinical/Medical Microbiologist, and an Anatomic Pathologist).
- NLCHI representative
- Regional Health Authority vice-presidents overseeing laboratory services (Four members).
- Representatives from other organizations with expertise/interest in appropriate laboratory test usage (Three members from Memorial University; Quality of Care; Choosing Wisely NL; Appropriateness of Care plus others)
The PLFAC meets regularly and operates within its terms of reference.
