Special Collection / Transport / Processing Requirements

Random urine collection – Upon lab reception of the random urine specimen, the pH shall be adjusted to 1-5 with 6N HCl no later than 3 h after the collection time. Otherwise, reject the specimen. Aliquot 3 samples with roughly 10 ml in each and freeze at -20ºC as soon as possible. Enter in the LIS the final urine pH.

Based on specimen condition and stability; Thawed sample (Thawed prior to receipt in Mass Spec Lab)
