Description and Primary Use
Non-HDL cholesterol is the amount of cholesterol carried within all atherogenic "bad" lipoproteins. HDL is the only "good" lipoprotein. Relying on LDL choletesterol alone for assessing riskmay be misleading as it excludes (if present) the highly atherogenic lipoproteins VLDL and IDL, as well as small dense LDL particles.
