Public Hearing – Amendment No. 4, 2020 to the St. John’s Urban Region Regional Plan (Witless Bay)

The St. John’s Urban Region Regional Plan (SJURRP) is a provincial plan, and all municipal plans within the region must be compliant. The current Town of Witless Bay Municipal Plan and Development Regulations were brought into legal effect on June 24, 2016. It was subsequently determined that a coinciding amendment was not completed to align the mapping for the Regional Plan and the Witless Bay Municipal Plan.

The Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs proposes to amend the SJURRP map to bring the Witless Bay Municipal Plan 2016 into compliance. In general terms, the purpose of SJURRP Amendment No. 4, 2020 is to amend land use designations on the Regional Plan map to correspond with the local designations and zones in the Witless Bay plan.

A public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday June 30, 2021 concerning St. John’s Urban Region Regional Plan Amendment No. 4, 2020. In accordance with COVID-19 protocols, the Commissioner will not hold a physical hearing, but will receive written submissions.  The Commissioner will consider all written submissions, and provide a report and recommendations to the Department of Municipal and Provincial Affairs.

Please see the amendment and the Google Earth (.KMZ) amendment map for locational reference.

Any person who wishes to make a submission on this amendment must provide a written statement before 4:00 pm on Wednesday June 30, 2021. Please email written representations or objections to LandUsePlanning@gov.nl.ca or mail them to:
