Official Inspection Stations

In order to complete and issue a certificate for a motor vehicle inspection, garages must apply for and be approved as an Official Inspection Station.

Application

To apply for a licence as an official inspection station you must complete the Application Form and submit it and the required supporting documents to National Safety Code.

Applications must include the following supporting documents:

  • Certificate of incorporation
  • Letter of Approval from City/Town or Municipality indicating that the location has been approved for the purpose of completing vehicle inspections
  • Copy of drivers licence for all mechanics
  • Copy of mechanics certificate of qualification*

*An affidavit regarding a persons experience in the automotive industry may be accepted in lieu of a certificate of qualification for an application for cars/light trucks and vans only.

Changes to Official Inspection Stations

Once approved as an Official Inspection Station, garages are required to notify Motor Registration Division of any changes including a change in location, company name or to add or remove mechanics from the licence.  To notify of changes complete the Amendment Form and submit it to National Safety Code.
