Translation Requirements

If your driver’s licence is in any language other than English or French, an English translation of the licence is required. The Association for New Canadians in St. John’s provides translation/interpretation services in over 60 languages.

The Registrar can also approve suitable translators for driver licensing. Potential translators are asked to please provide their resume or other suitable credential as well as a recommendation letter from a relevant support organization. This can include immigration, settlement or integration service providers; cultural associations; government or academia.

The Registrar may consult with the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism as required.
