April is recognized internationally by industry and government as Information Management Month (IM Month). The Management of Information Act outlines IM requirements for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and public bodies. As an employee you are legally obligated to comply with this Act. The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) provides employees with policies, directives, standards, guidelines and best practices to support compliance. The OCIO encourages employees to take some time this month to:
- Complete IM@Work: Making Information Management Work For You. This course provides an overview of IM and identifies best practices for managing and protecting information through the information lifecycle. This e-learning course is available through the Centre for Learning and Development’s Learning Management System. IM@Work is accessible at www.psaccess.ca and requires a unique User ID and Password. You can request an account by emailing
LMSSupport@gov.nl.ca. - Complete Information Management: A Guide for Managers. This online course, also available through www.psaccess.ca, outlines what is required by management-level employees to support compliance with IM requirements and use of IM best practices within their program area.
