There is no fee to change the “sex” designation that appears on your Newfoundland and Labrador driver’s licence or photo ID. The gender marker M, F or X may appear on these identity documents.

Book an appointment for a new driver’s licence:

• Complete the Driver/Photo ID Application
• You must bring either:
  • a birth certificate (which includes the revised sex designation), or
  • a certificate of change form (issued by the Registrar of Vital Statistics Newfoundland and Labrador), or
  • other government-issued documentation accepted by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles
