Agriculture Research Advisory Committee

With a shared appreciation of the need to understand research and development pathways, particularly ensuring that research efforts are consistent with the requirements of industry stakeholders, the Agricultural Research Advisory Committee (ARAC) was established in September 2013.  While representation on ARAC has evolved over the years, its main objective has remained unchanged: to facilitate discussion between researchers and research users. The committee – currently consisting of lead representatives from the Agriculture Production and Research Division, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Memorial University of Newfoundland – Grenfell Campus and the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture (NLFA) –is responsible for Province-wide research priority setting, knowledge sharing between organizations, and collaboration.  The ARAC meets on a monthly basis to ensure a consistent dialogue of synergistic collaboration between research groups. Annual meetings consisting of larger representation from industry and researchers will be held in the future and coincide with the NLFA annual AGM as a means to ensure that research results are transferred to the agriculture community.
