August 26, 2022 – Community Needs Assessment:

September 9, 2022

Did you know that a community needs assessment on housing is currently taking place in the region? The Labrador Friendship Centre, on behalf of the Action Team, is leading a formalized housing needs assessment to determine current housing services and infrastructure in the Lake Melville area. This information will assist the Action Team in identifying housing gaps in Central Labrador, and will aid in identifying supports and/or services that may be considered in an effort to respond to identified housing needs.  This report is expected to be finalized and forwarded to the Action Team for review by early Fall and will provide valuable information on current housing needs in the region.

The Action Team looks forward to providing regular updates through the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay’s Facebook page and website, and the Labrador Affairs Secretariat’s webpage at https://www.gov.nl.ca/exec/las/overview/

#7 Case Management Team: Action Team Update – September 2, 2022

There is a Case Management Team in place in Happy Valley-Goose Bay to work with individuals at risk of being homeless, experiencing homelessness, including those who are transiently homeless. The Case Management Team consists of the Labrador Affairs Secretariat, Labrador-Grenfell Health, the Housing Hub, RCMP, Innu Round Table Secretariat, NL Housing, and the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development (CSSD). The team meets regularly to collaborate and prioritize supports and housing for vulnerable individuals in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Each organization plays an important role in the prevention and intervention of homelessness through the provision of services and information to support an integrated seamless continuum of care. The Team understands that it can be challenging to find the correct solution for each individual but is driven by the belief that every person is entitled to a safe place to call home.
