Newfoundland and Labrador facilitates two economic immigration programs. These programs assist skilled workers, international graduates and entrepreneurs settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador with their families and gain permanent residence in Canada. These programs also assist Newfoundland and Labrador employers with addressing labour market needs.

Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP)

The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) allows the Province to nominate applicants who meet established criteria, for Permanent Residence. The NLPNP offers:

  • An efficient immigration process for qualified skilled workers, international graduates, entrepreneurs and their families who wish to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador; and
  • Assistance from provincial Immigration Program Development Officers who are available to explain the program requirements, and guide applicants throughout the application process.

Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is an immigration program that helps employers recruit skilled international workers and international graduates to meet labour needs. The permanent program retains the features that made the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (in place from 2017 to 2021) a success, including: a focus on employer engagement, enhanced settlement support and a collaborative approach across the four Atlantic Provinces.
