The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Immigration Agreement, signed in 2022, delineates federal and provincial responsibilities relating to planning, selection, promotion, and reporting of its immigration programs and initiatives. The Agreement reflects the Parties’ shared principles, prioritizes Newfoundland and Labrador’s desire to attract and retain greater numbers of immigrants, and strengthens the partnership between the two orders of government to encourage immigration to the province. The Provincial Nominee Annex defines the roles and responsibilities of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador in relation to the Provincial Nominee Class of Permanent Residents to Canada.
The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism is responsible for provincial oversight of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Immigration Agreement.
