2.1 Course-by-Course Transfer of Credit Arrangements Between Public Post-Secondary Institutions

The transfer arrangements in section 2 apply to courses or programs taken during the 2010-2011 academic year (September 1, 2010 to August 31, 2011). Credit for courses taken previously is normally governed by the appropriate Transfer Guide for the year in which courses were taken. Students who have interrupted their studies or spread them out over a longer period of time should seek advice from the institution which the student wishes to enter to determine the current status of transfer arrangements. The tables in section 2 are to be read from sending to receiving institution only. Transfers are not necessarily two-way.

Sending Institution Receiving Institution

College of the North Atlantic

Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University

Memorial University
(St. John’s/Sir Wilfred Grenfell College Campuses)

Communications I CM1400 Communication Skills 1102 Business 2000
Communications II CM1401 Communication Skills 1201

Here’s how this table is read, from sending to receiving…

  • A student who has successfully completed Communications CM1400 AND CM1401 at a campus of College of the North Atlantic will receive credit for Communication Skills 1102 AND 1201 at the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University or Business 2000 at Memorial University (St. John’s/Sir Wilfred Grenfell College campuses).

This does not necessarily mean that…

  • A student who has successfully completed Communication Skills 1102 AND 1201 at the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University or Business 2000 at Memorial University (St. John’s/Sir Wilfred Grenfell College campuses) will receive credit for Communications CM1400 AND CM1401 at a campus of College of the North Atlantic.

In order to determine if the reverse is true, you would go to page 30 where the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University is the sending institution and to page 33 where Memorial University (St. John’s or Sir Wilfred Grenfell College campuses) is the sending institution, and look across to see if there is any corresponding credit transfer at College of the North Atlantic (the receiving institution). Note: The courses listed in the following tables are not necessarily available at all university and college campuses. Please consult the appropriate institutional calendar for more information.
