StudentAidNL
To support the province’s overall commitment to an affordable post-secondary education system, the province is enhancing several features of the provincial Student Aid Program to increase financial benefits to eligible post-secondary students.
These enhancements will take effect on August 1, 2025.
In-province study
- Weekly maximum limit will increase to $120 per week of study for loan and $120 per week of study for grant, for a weekly combined total of $240 per week of study.
MUN medical
- Weekly maximum limit will increase to $155 per week of study for loan and $145 per week of study for grant, for a weekly combined total of $300 per week of study.
Out-of-province study
- Weekly maximum limit will increase to $240 per week of study for loan.
Memorial University
- The Memorial University Tuition Relief Grant (TRG) will increase to $420 per course for qualifying students.
Debt Reduction
- The minimum program duration under the Debt Reduction Grant Program will be lowered to include programs of study which are at least 60 weeks in length.
- This change only applies to new entrants in eligible programs as of August 1, 2025, and will not be applied retroactively.
- Individuals currently enrolled in programs of study that are at least 80 weeks in length, will remain eligible.
Canada Student Financial Assistance Program
Current funding levels will remain the same for 2025-26 academic year.

Full-Time Eligibility Requirements
In order to maintain eligibility for full-time student financial assistance, students are required to meet a number of criteria including to make academic progress in their program of studies. StudentAidNL is focused on ensuring students are supported in completing their programs in a timely manner with minimal debt.
