1. How can I request information from Cabinet Secretariat?
The following options are available for requesting information from Cabinet Secretariat:
a. Requests for information from Cabinet Secretariat can be emailed to cabinetsecretariat@gov.nl.ca.
b. Depending on the information you request, you may be required to complete an access to information request in accordance with the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015. Here is a link to the form: https://apps.gov.nl.ca/atipp/.
c. Cabinet Secretariat maintains a searchable Orders in Council database that is available online from 2003 to the present. Orders in Council – Executive Council. If you require an Order in Council prior to 2003, email cabinetsecretariat@gov.nl.ca. In your email, please provide as much information as possible about the Order in Council (e.g., OC number, year, topic, legislation, and/or department).
2. Can I access Cabinet Records?
Section 27 of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015 refers to Cabinet confidences. It indicates that Cabinet confidences are exempt from public release for a period of 20 years. To request copy of a document that is past the 20 year exemption period, please call 709-729-2921 or 709-729-6628.
