1. How can I request information from Cabinet Secretariat?
The following options are available for requesting information from Cabinet Secretariat:
- Orders in Council (OCs) from January 2004 onward are publically available in the Orders in Council section of our website. For OCs prior to 2004 please call 709-729-2921 or 709-729-6628.
- Requests for information from Cabinet Secretariat can be directed to the Information Management Division. Please call 709-729-2921 or 709-729-6628. Depending on the information you request, you may be required to complete an application form (PDF document opens in new window) in accordance with the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIPP) Act. The completed form should be sent to:

2. Can I access Cabinet Records?
Section 27 of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015 refers to Cabinet confidences. It indicates that Cabinet confidences are exempt from public release for a period of 20 years. To request copy of a document that is past the 20 year exemption period, please call 709-729-2921 or 709-729-6628.

4. Who is the Minister responsible for the Executive Council / Cabinet Secretariat?
The Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador is the Minister responsible for the Executive Council / Cabinet Secretariat.
5. How do I nominate someone for an award such as the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador, or Public Service Award of Excellence?
Information respecting the nomination process for the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador can be found on the ONL website.

6. How do I apply for a Volunteer War Service Medal?
Application forms for the Volunteer War Service Medal can be found on the Awards and Recognition page.
7. What entities are included under the Transparency and Accountability Act?
All government entities are included under the act:
- Government Departments;
- Crown corporations;
- Entities whose board are appointed by an Act, Cabinet or a Minister;
- School Boards; and,
- Any entity cabinet designates as a public body.
The only exceptions under the act are the Court of Appeal of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador.
8. How can I access departmental and public body plans and reports?
All plans and reports prepared in accordance with the Transparency and Accountability Act are available through the House of Assembly library. Simply search by entity name or issuing body.

9. Who is responsible for evaluation in the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador?
The Policy Innovation and Accountability Office leads the implementation of the Policy on Evaluation, and provides support to Provincial Government departments in meeting their commitments under the Policy. This includes support for performance measurement, evaluation planning and evaluation implementation. Individual departments are responsible for the completion of evaluations and may conduct an evaluation internally, or in partnership with other stakeholders or external consultants.
10. Who is responsible for regulatory reform in the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador?
The Regulatory Reform Initiative is overseen by the Minister of Service NL who is supported by the Policy Innovation and Accountability Office in carrying out responsibilities in relation to regulatory reform. The office also supports government departments and agencies in carrying out the Regulatory Reform mandate, and is responsible for monitoring and reporting, as well as any other changes and achievements in relation to Regulatory Reform.
11. How can I make suggestions for regulatory improvements?
