Protocol is about following correct procedures and ensuring that official and unofficial visits, meetings and functions attended by royalty, Indigenous elders and leaders, and government officials are planned and conducted according to a set of rules that are formally, socially and culturally accepted and expected by the parties involved.
These rules are widely accepted as necessary and useful in today’s society, particularly when dealing with dignitaries and VIPs as a mark of respect for the position those individuals occupy.
