The Debt Servicing and Subsidies Program provides grants and subsidies, representing repayment of the provincial share of capital debt held by various financial agencies, to finance the development of municipal infrastructure, recreation facilities and other municipal improvements that were considered essential for municipal sustainability. In the Fall of 2007, as an alternative to borrowing funds, the department initiated a cash payment program for the province’s share of completed infrastructure projects.
