Agriculture and Lands Legislation

  • Agrologists Act – An act establishing the Newfoundland and Labrador Institute of Agrologists.  The act outlines the objectives, structure, operation and membership of the Institute.
  • Animal Health and Protection Act – This act encompasses four parts: Part 1 Animal Health, Part 2 Animal Protection, Part 3 Nuisance Animals, Part 4 Heritage Animals. There is also Animal Health and Protection Regulations.

  • Farm Practices Protection Act – This act provides farmers, who operate in an acceptable manner, with protection against nuisance suits.
  • Farm Products Corporation Act – This act regulates the internal operations of Newfoundland and Labrador Farm Products Corporation.
  • Land Surveyors Act, 1991 – This act provides the authority to establish the Association of Newfoundland Land Surveyors which regulates the practice of land surveyors and governs the profession in the Province.
  • Lands Act – This act provides the regulatory framework for allocation and management of Crown lands.
  • Livestock Insurance Act – An act creates the Livestock Owners Compensation Board which is responsible for administering a livestock insurance plan.
  • Meat Inspection Act – This act and regulations provide standards for meat plants and establishments and prohibit the sale and distribution of meat from unlicensed plants and establishments in the interest of public health.
