Licensing, Inspection and Quality Assurance

The Licensing, Inspection and Quality Assurance Division is committed to work with the public and all other stakeholders to ensure seafood is safe for consumption through inspection and enforcement. The brochures below contain information that summarizes penalties under the Fish Inspection Act, the powers of inspectors, harvesting-related regulations, and processing-related regulations.

In accordance with Section 6 of the Aquaculture Act, the Minister may designate a person or class of persons to be aquaculture inspectors for the purpose of conducting inspections in order to determine compliance with the Aquaculture Act and Regulations.
