Forestry and Wildlife Legislation

  • Endangered Species Act – An act respecting the protection of Endangered Species.
  • Forest Protection Act – An act to provide for the establishment and maintenance of a Forest Protection Association in the Province.
  • Foresters Act – An act respecting forestry professions.
  • Forestry Act – An act to revise the law respecting the management, harvesting and protection of the forests of the province.
  • Wild Life Act – An act relating to Wildlife.
  • Wilderness and Ecological Reserves Act – An act to provide for Natural Areas in the province to be set aside as Wilderness or Ecological Reserves for the benefit, education and enjoyment of the people of the province. The act sets out the process for reserve establishment and termination, including the appointment and duties for a Wilderness and Ecological Reserves Advisory Council. The act also outlines prohibited activities in order to protect reserves; as well as possible exemptions to enable a variety of low-impact activities to continue. The penalty for offences against the Act are outlined. A number of Regulations are established to give further clarification on implementation of the act (eg. Wilderness Reserve Regulations; Seabird, Fossil, and Botanical Ecological Reserve Regulations).
