General

1. Who can access and use these online services?

Authorized fish processing, fish buyers, and aquaculture licence holders with a registered user account may log in and use the services provided by this online system. A registered user account will be activated after approval by the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture.

2. What forms can I complete and submit online?

As a Registered User, the following forms, reports and surveys may be submitted using the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture Online Services.

Aquaculture:

a.     Annual Employment Reports

b.     Licence Renewal (including Annual Statistics)

c.     Permit to Transfer and Transport

d.     Transfer and Transport Report

Fisheries:

f.     Fish Processing Supplemental Condition Request (Exemption)

3. Can I submit aquaculture site application requests online?

No, not at this time. All aquaculture site licensing applications will continue to be submitted to the department using the existing paper form process.

No, not at this time. All fish licensing applications will continue to be submitted to the department using the existing paper form process.

Account Registration

8. How do I register to use the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture online services?

If you are a new user and do not already have an existing account for your company a new account can be created by completing the following steps:

  •  On the home page select the link <Register for an Account>.
  •  Provide your log in and contact information.
  •  Select ‘Individual’ for your Contact Type.

Your account must be activated by the Department before you can access the online service. In order to activate your account the Department must have a completed Registration and User Agreement Form on file for your company.

9. What is a Registration and User Agreement Form?

A Registration and User Agreement Form is a statement of terms and conditions, as agreed to by the licence holder, for operating and maintaining a Registered User Account(s) for the DFA online services.

A completed form must be on file before any Registered User Accounts will be activated.

If your company has not completed the Registration and User Agreement Form then please contact the department.

10. Can I use the same email address to register more than one account?

No, each registered account must have an email address that is not already in use and associated with an existing registered account.

11. How do I change my log in details?

After you log in:

  •  Select <Account Management> link in the top right-hand corner of the page.
  •  Select <Edit> in the Login Information section and make your updates.

12. I forgot my password. How can I retrieve it?

On the Welcome Screen:

  •  Select <I’ve forgotten my password> link below the ‘ Log in’ button.
  •  Enter your email address, and click the <Continue> button.
  •  Answer the Security Question, and click the < Send New Password> button.

You will receive an email confirmation with your new password. You can always change your password via Account Management.

13. What are the password requirements?

Your password must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 character(s)
  • Must contain each of the following:
    • At least 1 upper-case letter(s) (A, B, C, …)
    • At least 1 number(s) (1, 2, 3, …)
    • At least 1 special character(s) (_,-,*,…)
  • Must not contain the following:
    • Your user ID
  • Passwords will expire after 90 days and will need to be updated by the user.
  • Cannot be any of your previous 5 password(s).

Password Best Practices:

  • Treat your password as confidential and protect it from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
  • Never save your username and password in your web browser.
  • Do not share or disclose your password.

Payments

14. Can I pay online?

Yes, commencing June 2015 all fees may be paid online at https://www.gov.nl.ca/pay-online.html. You may pay fees for new applications and licence renewals at this link.

  • Credit Card
    • Visa and MasterCard (Maximum $50,000 transaction amount).
  • Interac (Debit Card)
  • You must be set up for online banking with your respective bank.
    • The allowable transaction amount is set by your bank.
