Uapikun Learns About Rabies

Uapikun Learns About Rabies is the fifth book in The Adventures of Uapikun series of children’s books produced through the provincial government, the Sheshatshiu Innu School , and the Innu Language Project (Memorial University).

The book tells the story of a young Innu girl, Uapikun, who encounters a rabid fox while out hunting with her family. The messages of how to protect yourself and your dogs from this disease are simply told with numerous colour images to illustrate the story. Cover of Story Uapikun Learns About Rabies

The book is being produced in English, two Innu-aimun dialects (Sheshatshiu and Mushuau), and French, with adaptations planned for the Inuktitut and Cree languages.

It was produced in association with the Global Alliance for Rabies Control , an international rabies education organization.
