Helitack Crew
The Forest Fire Protection Centre serves as a base for a regional Helitack Crew. This two person crew responds to forest fire reports in the central part of the Eastern Region; generally within Forest Ecosystem Management Districts 4, 5, 6 and 8. The crew also has access to a fire truck to respond to fires in and around the Town of Gander and Gander International Airport.
Provincial Hose Processing Facility
The Provincial Hose Processing Facility has state of the art machinery where hose is cleaned, tested, repaired and packaged for storage and shipment. Any length hose up to 6 inches in diameter can be repaired. The Newfoundland and Labrador Hose Processing Facility is an economical alternative to the costly replacement of fire hose and couplings.
