A storm surge in Greenspond, Bonavista Bay, on the weekend caused property damage in the community. The 10-metre waves that accompanied the surge tore up about 350 metres of the town’s boardwalk. A storage shed, a fishing stage and a wharf also were heavily damaged. Mayor Kevin Blackwood suggested it will cost up to $4,000 to fix the town’s walking trail and another $5,000 to repair damage to personal property.
