Food & Beverage/Agrifoods

The Food and Beverage sector in NL consists of more than 200 value-added food manufacturers using local and imported food to produce products for regional, provincial and export markets.  Ranging from jams and syrups to chocolate and coffee and so much more these products are high quality and unique. These companies are small enough to be quick to market and adaptable to new market requirements.

SECTOR MARKET-READINESS INITIATIVES, TRAINING

There are many opportunities for local food and beverage manufacturers to grow their operations.  These include exploring new markets, development of new products, enhancing their marketing efforts, creating partnerships for mutual benefit, decreasing costs through technology, and availing of programs that would support their efforts.  (link to funding programs)

IET, in partnership with other government departments and/or industry associations, offers training opportunities to help the sector build capacity.  These workshops range from production training to marketing.

EXPORT DEVELOPMENT

Trade development has been identified as a priority for the food and beverage sector. Firms in Newfoundland and Labrador realize that there are many opportunities beyond the local market for growth. Market development through trade shows and trade missions are effective in this industry.
