Craft and Gift

IET offers programs to support business and sector development in the craft and gift sectors, including the advisory services of the Craft Sector Specialist.  To access these programs, products must fit the department’s Definitions of Craft and Gift. 

CRAFT INDUSTRY STRATEGY 2023-2025

The Craft Industry Strategy 2023-2025 is intended to keep the craft industry moving forward and ensuring that industry partners continue to work together.  Priorities are focused on providing opportunities for business and artistic growth, ensuring greater communication throughout the craft community, continued collaboration among industry partners, and collecting important economic data.

The four primary strategic directions that encompass the Craft Industry Strategy 2023-2025 are listed below:

  • Ensuring Greater Communication and Promotion of the Craft Industry
  • Providing Opportunities for Business Growth
  • Providing Opportunities for Training
  • Continuing Research into the Economic Value of the Craft Industry in Newfoundland and Labrador

PRODUCT REVIEW

Craft and gift producers are required to submit product samples to IET’s Product Review process or the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Standards Committee prior to making application to any of our programs or applying to exhibit at the Craft and Gift Wholesale Show.   For more information please visit the Product Review page or contact Brenda Stratton at: 709-637-4064 or by email at brendastratton@gov.nl.ca

CRAFT AND GIFT WHOLESALE SHOW

The Craft and Gift Wholesale Show is organized annually by the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador in partnership with IET.

Exhibitors do not have to be a member of the Craft Council to exhibit at this event.

The Craft and Gift Wholesale Show is a juried show and all exhibitors will have to have their products assessed to confirm they meet the criteria for participation in the show.

Craft products must be submitted to the Craft Council’s Standards Jury process.  For more information please contact the Craft Council at info@craftcouncil.nl.ca
