Heavy rainfall has caused flooding problems in northwestern Newfoundland, particularly in the Hampden area, a resident said Tuesday. Mario Ropson said one of the main roads to the community has been washed out. “It looks like there’s very extensive damage on the road itself,” Ropson told CBC News. “The power lines itself that travels down that road are literally hanging by the wires.”

Ropson said he is not aware of anyone being injured, and the flooding has not caused any evacuations. He said, though, that two sheds have been washed into the ocean. He said the rain had stopped by Tuesday afternoon, and that emergency officials were on the scene.
