Several large boulders rolled down the hill near Pierce’s Point and came to rest on the road leading to and from the ‘Down Harbour’ section of the community. Mayor Eric Skinner of Harbour Breton said that his council is very concerned about the potential for landslides: “We were very lucky on January 4 that no one was walking or driving by the area where the large boulders came down as we could have had a serious accident. There are still boulders just hanging on a ledge on the hill, and we’re afraid that they will come down in our next big rainfall”.
