Former Pinetree Line Radar Station Cut Throat Island

In 2015, the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Municipalities completed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) of the Former United States Military Site located on Cut Throat Island approximately 88 kilometers north of the Town of Cartwright, Newfoundland and Labrador.  The purpose of the Phase I ESA was to identify, through non-intrusive investigation, the existence of any significant actual or potential areas of environmental impairment associated with the Site. The Phase I ESA was conducted in general accordance with the Canadian Standard Association (CSA) Standard Z768-01 for conducting ESAs.

In 2017, the Department of National Defence / Defence Construction Canada completed an Initial Testing Program (Phase II Environmental Site Assessment) at the Former US Military Pinetree Line Radar Station Cut Throat Island.  The purpose of the Phase II ESA investigation was to determine current environmental conditions of the property.
