Pesticide Control Section

The Pesticide Control Section is tasked with regulating pesticides and their usage in Newfoundland and Labrador. Compliance is met by using two pieces of legislation, the Environment Protection Act and the Pesticides Control Regulations. These pieces of legislations dictate that businesses and individuals who use pesticides for profit or gain must possess the correct licencing. Individuals who are looking to gain the required licencing to become a pesticide applicator, or a certified vendor are obliged to take and pass an exam. Passing the exam and gaining the licence shows that the individual follows the correct procedures when using pesticides to ensure public and environmental safety. To help people looking to gain the mandatory licence, the Pesticide Control Section offers training.
