Former Pinetree Line Radar Station Spotted Island

In 2015, the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Municipalities completed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) of the Former US Pinetree Line Radar Station located on Spotted Island, approximately 314 kilometers east of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador.  The purpose of the Phase I ESA was to identify, through non-intrusive investigation, the existence of any significant actual or potential areas of environmental impairment associated with the Site. The Phase I ESA was conducted in general accordance with the Canadian Standard Association (CSA) Standard Z768-01 for conducting ESAs.

In 2017, the Department of National Defence / Defence Construction Canada completed an Initial Testing Program (Phase II Environmental Site Assessment) at the Former US Pinetree Line Radar Station  Spotted Island.  The purpose of the Phase II ESA investigation was to determine current environmental conditions of the property.
