Canada Games Grant

The Canada Games Grant Program is a strategic initiative supported by the Provincial Government’s recreation and sport strategy, Active Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador. Held every two years, alternating between summer and winter, the Canada Games are a key event in the development of Canada’s young athletes. The best in their age group, these young competitors train long and hard to be among those chosen to represent their province or territory in the Games. With the Canada Games poised as a key step in the development of our country’s future stars, Canada Games athletes are the next generation’s national, international and Olympic champions.

Since the inception of the Canada Games program in 1967, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has been a proud and enthusiastic supporter of the Games. Today, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation provides funding to Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) to prepare their athletes and coaches for Canada Games competitions.
