In May 2026, there were 3,802 new motor vehicles sold in Newfoundland and Labrador, a decrease of 5.8% (or 234 units) compared with May 2025. The total value of sales increased by 1.5% compared with May 2025.

The average price of new motor vehicles sold in the province stood at $50,975 in May 2026, an increase of 7.7% compared with May 2025. Newfoundland and Labrador had the lowest average new motor vehicle price among provinces in May 2026.

On a year-to-date basis, the number of new motor vehicles sold in Newfoundland and Labrador decreased by 11.6% compared with January-May 2025, and the value of sales decreased by 7.1%.

At the national level, the number of sales decreased by 1.9% compared with May 2025, while the value of sales increased by 2.3%. The average price increased by 4.4% to $57,181. On a year-to-date basis, the number of sales for Canada decreased by 4.3% compared with January-May 2025, and the value of sales declined by 1.6%.
