In April 2026, there were 3,418 new motor vehicles sold in Newfoundland and Labrador, a decrease of 12.3% (or 480 units) compared with April 2025. The total value of sales decreased by 8.0% compared with April 2025.
The average price of new motor vehicles sold in the province stood at $50,044 in April 2026, an increase of 5.0% compared with April 2025. Newfoundland and Labrador had the second-lowest average new motor vehicle price among provinces in April 2026, slightly higher than the average price for Prince Edward Island ($49,719).
On a year-to-date basis, the number of new motor vehicles sold in Newfoundland and Labrador decreased by 13.6% compared with January-April 2025, and the value of sales decreased by 10.0%.
At the national level, the number of sales decreased by 6.0% compared with April 2025, while the value of sales declined by 1.7%. The average price increased by 4.5% to $57,800. On a year-to-date basis, the number of sales for Canada decreased by 5.1% compared with January-April 2025, and the value of sales declined by 2.8%.
