New Motor Vehicle Sales Down 13.9% in March 2026

In March 2026, there were 2,946 new motor vehicles sold in Newfoundland and Labrador, a decrease of 13.9% (or 476 units) compared with March 2025. The total value of sales decreased by 9.4% compared with March 2025.

The average price of new motor vehicles sold in the province stood at $51,093 in March 2026, an increase of 5.3% compared with March 2025. Newfoundland and Labrador had the second lowest average new motor vehicle price among provinces in March 2026, ahead of Prince Edward Island ($46,720).

On a year-to-date basis, the number of new motor vehicles sold in Newfoundland and Labrador decreased by 14.2% compared with January-March 2025, and the value of sales decreased by 11.0%.

At the national level, the number of sales decreased by 6.6% compared with March 2025, while the value of sales declined by 3.6%. The average price increased by 3.2% to $57,723. On a year-to-date basis, the number of sales for Canada decreased by 4.7% compared with January-March 2025, and the value of sales declined by 3.3%.
