In August 2026, there were 3,583 new motor vehicles sold in Newfoundland and Labrador, an increase of 5.9% (or 200 units) compared with August 2025. The total value of sales increased by 7.9% compared with August 2025.

The average price of new motor vehicles sold in the province stood at $51,466 in August 2026, an increase of 1.8% compared with August 2025. Newfoundland and Labrador had the third-lowest average new motor vehicle price among provinces in August 2026, ahead of Prince Edward Island ($48,271) and Nova Scotia ($50,739).

At the national level, new motor vehicle sales increased by 4.9% compared with August 2025, and the value of sales increased by 8.8%. The average price increased by 3.8% to $56,661.

On a year-to-date basis, the number of new motor vehicles sold in Newfoundland and Labrador decreased by 3.8% compared with the same period in 2025, while the value of sales increased by 0.6%. New motor vehicle sales in Canada decreased by 1.4% compared with January-August 2025, while the value of sales increased by 1.5%.
