The Active Living and Wellness Fund is designed to support active living, holistic healing, and wellness. Funding is available for initiatives, infrastructure, and equipment that directly increase sport, physical activity, active recreation, holistic healing, wellness and/or healthy eating for individuals of all ages
Who can apply?
Not-for-profit, community-based groups and organizations, municipalities, Indigenous Governments, Local Service Districts and K-12 schools.
What are the eligibility requirements?
- To be eligible for funding, applicants must reside in Newfoundland and Labrador, and funding must be used in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Community groups/organizations requesting more than $1,000 are required to be incorporated and in good standing as a non-profit organization in Newfoundland and Labrador. For information on the incorporation process or to confirm your organization is in good standing, please visit Companies and Deeds Online.
- Applications will not be accepted from — but are not limited to — government agencies, Health Care Foundations, social enterprises, for-profit entities or individuals.
- Schools may apply, but only for projects related to infrastructure or equipment.
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure all requirements are submitted prior to the deadline.
What is the application deadline?
The deadline for applications is September 29, 2026. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure all requirements are submitted prior to the deadline.
In the event of extenuating circumstances, requests for funding may be accepted beyond the deadline. Eligible requests may be fully, partial or not funded due to the large volume of applications received.
Reporting Requirements
A final report for all funded projects is due within twelve (12) months from funding approval. Applications with outstanding final reports will not be accepted.

How do I know if my application was successful?
Successful applicants will receive an approval letter from the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation with all applicants receiving an email once funds have been fully expended. Funding decisions may be made at any time until March 31, 2027.
How will payments be processed?
Approved funding will be processed for payment in one installment through electronic funds transfer. Successful applicants must be set up as a vendor in the Department of Finance’s financial management system to receive funds. Successful applicants will be notified of the process required for vendor set up if funding is approved.
