Climate Change Consultations

Climate change is a shared challenge that requires governments, businesses, industries, communities and individuals to all play a role. The Provincial Government is committed to developing a climate change action plan, as outlined in The Way Forward: A Vision for Sustainability and Growth in Newfoundland and Labrador (14 MB). From June to September 2016, people from across the province participated in consultations to inform an approach to taking further action on climate change in Newfoundland and Labrador. These consultations included three forms of engagement:

  • Public Consultation Sessions
  • Written Submissions
  • Meetings with Stakeholder Groups

Four in-person and three online public consultation sessions were hosted throughout the province. Four additional in-person sessions were hosted by other organizations, with support from the department.

What We Heard

Ideas, suggestions and solutions received through the consultations have been compiled and summarized in a What We Heard (2 MB) document.

The feedback received during the public consultation sessions, as well as written submissions sent to the Department, are available in raw, unedited format below:

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador will consider all of this valuable input as it determines next steps and develops a climate change action plan.
