Project Description:

The proponent proposes to develop an 18-hole golf course with associated infrastructure at Windmill Bight Provincial Park, 5 km southeast of the Town of Lumsden. The 79-hectare championship course will include a 220 square metre clubhouse, an irrigation system, a practice range, an 800-m gravel access road, a gravel parking lot for 100 vehicles, and a 280 square metre combined maintenance & cart storage building. Employment will be 30 workers during construction and 15 during operation.Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2002 with an operations date in September 2004. The Registration appends a Feasibility and Financing Option Study with a Site Analysis and Selection Report and a Migratory Bird Assessment Study.

  • February 26, 2002 – The undertaking was registered.
  • April 29, 2002 – The Minister announced that Government will release the undertaking subject to conditions (See Public Notices below).
  • December 17, 2002 – The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation announced that land from the Windmill Bight park area will not be de-commissioned to accommodate the development of the proposed undertaking (See Public Notices below).
