Project Description:
The proponent in affiliation with the (local) North Eastern Snowmobile Club plans to upgrade an existing trail from Penny’s Pond to near Conche to meet Newfoundland and Labrador Snowmobile Federation standards for use as a snowmobile trail on the Great Northern Peninsula. The trail starts near Penny’s Pond, south of route 434 and runs approximately 12 kilometres generally east towards the Town of Conche. The trail will be cleared to six metres width to allow safe passage by trail groomer and snowmobiles. Construction will consist mainly of cutting trees, erection of shelters and installation of stream crossing structures.
- July 21, 2003 – The undertaking was registered.
- August 27, 2003 – Public comments are due.
- September 9, 2003 – The Minister released the project from further environmental assessment.
