Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent plans to build an access road and site for drilling an exploration oil and gas well south of Parsons Pond in Western Newfoundland. The project will include construction of approximately 1.3 kilometres of new road to access the drilling location. The drilling site will be located approximately midway between the southern boundary of Parsons Pond and the northern boundary of Gros Morne National Park. Construction of the road is planned to start in early December and the drilling operation phase of the project will take about 90 days to complete.

• September 29, 2003 – The undertaking was registered.
• November 3, 2003 – Public comments were due.
• November 19, 2003 – The Minister announced that the undertaking was conditionally (29 KB) released from further environmental assessment.
