Project Description:

The proponent proposes to build a sewage treatment facility for the Towns of Glenwood and Appleton. The proposed facility would replace two existing treatment plants which discharge into the Gander River. The proposed facility would serve both Glenwood and Appleton and would be located on the Glenwood side of the Gander River just north of Salmon River. Access to the site would require a new road and a bridge across Salmon River. The proposed treatment facility would include an engineered wetland process, primary sedimentation, storm water treatment, UV disinfection, and a diffused outfall discharging into Gander River. The proponent proposes to begin construction in July 2004 with an operations date of December 2005.

  • December 1, 2003 – The undertaking was registered.
  • January 6 2004 – Public comments are due.
  • January 16, 2004 – The Minister’s decision date has been extended to January 29, 2004.
  • February 13, 2004 – The Minister announced that the undertaking has been released from further environmental assessment.
