Project Description:

The proponent, proposes to construct a breakwater in the community of Lawn on the south coast of the Burin Peninsula. The rubble mound breakwater will measure approximately 100 metres long, out into the waters of Great Lawn Harbour, extending from the existing breakwater and measuring 25 metres wide along the ocean floor, with a crest width of 5 metres. The breakwater will be constructed to an elevation of 3.6 metres high and will be composed of a variety of materials such as core stone, filter stone and armour stone.

  • June 15, 2004 – The undertaking was registered.
  • July 21, 2004 – Public comments are due.
  • July 29, 2004 – The Minister released the project from further environmental assessment.
