Project Description:
The proponent plans to construct a mink fur farm north of Northern Arm near Botwood, Bay of Exploits, Notre Dame Bay. The proposed fur farm will be located on a 110 hectare site, located approximately 7 kilometres north of Northern Arm, on route 350. The proponent plans to introduce 2,500 bred females and to increase to 10,000 female breeders within 4 years thus producing approximately 50,000 kits. Construction on the site will include sheds to house the mink and other related structures.
- August 31, 2004 – The undertaking was registered.
- October 5, 2004 – Public comments are due.
- October 15, 2004 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- November 1, 2004 – The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment, subject to a condition.
