Summary of Environmental Assessment Process
Project Description:
The proponent proposes to construct an approximately 12 kilometre All-Terrain-Vehicle (ATV) trail to access a remote cottage at North West Pond near Fortune, on the Burin Peninsula. The trail is proposed to be three to four metres wide. Construction is planned to commence as soon as all permits are in place. An excavator will be used to develop the trail to a distance of one kilometre. Construction of the remaining 11 kilometres will be by hand tools and chain saws.
- December 3, 2004 – The undertaking was registered.
- January 7, 2005 – Public comments are due.
- February 21, 2005 – The Minister releases the project from further environmental assessment.
