Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to construct an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) trail from his residence in River of Ponds to his cabin at River of Ponds Lake near Hawke’s Bay on the Great Northern Peninsula. The trail will follow an existing transmission line in a southwest direction for approximately 1.4 kilometres and then proceed in a southeasterly direction for approximately 1.5 kilometres to River of Ponds Lake. Construction will consist of upgrading an old winter woods road and snowmobile trail. The trail will be constructed by the owner using ATV, chainsaw and hand tools.

• February 24, 2005 – The undertaking was registered.
• March 31, 2005 – Public comments are due.
• April 20, 2005 – The Minister released the project from further environmental assessment.
